Bungamati and Khokana Village Hikking

About this Trip

This hike provides you a chance to explore the Newari villages their artifacts, architecture & culture. Travellers can enjoy the panoramic views of Kathmandu valley along with the mountains.

Located on top of the hill, this historical town preserved its culture till this date. The walk through the small alleys of the town is full of interesting discoveries. You will walk down through open cultivated farmlands and across the suspension bridge over Bagmati River before you reach the Newari villages of Bungmati and Khokana. You will have a good insight to their livelihood be able to meet villagers and discover their arts and architecture. You will be provided with packed lunch boxes. After lunch, you will proceed to climb up the village of Chapagoan (1457m), which is mostly inhabited by Chhetries and Brahmins (two of the major caste hierarchy in Hinduism).

You will depart early at 7 am from Kathmandu after breakfast and carry your pack lunch for the day. After an hour drive, you will start your exploration of Newari town at Kirtipur (1334m). To the end of this trip at Chapagoan, you will be taken to Kathmandu via private vehicle.
