World Peace Pagoda (Lumbini)

This pagoda was built by the Japanese at the cost of US $ 1 million, just outside the main area. The pagoda has the statue of Lord Buddha in the position he took when he was born. It is a gleaming white structure with a golden statue. It is one of the rising attractions of Lumbini. The Lumbini Shanti Stupa was constructed by Nipponzan Myohoji monks and dedicated in November 2001 at the Buddhist pilgrimage site in Kapilvastu district Lumbini zone Nepal, where Queen Maya Devi is said to have given birth to Siddhartha Gautama, who in turn, as the Buddha Gautama, gave birth to the Buddhist tradition.

How to get there?

If you are a visitor from the Country outside Nepal you can get many tourist bus services available to reach The World Peace Pagoda. (Charges approx. Rs. 1500-2000 from Kathmandu) .However, if you are national visitor outside Lumbini then you have to reach Bhairahawa first then traveling 22 km west from Buddha Chowk, Bhairahawa in any local vehicles you will reach the Lumbini, after walking few meters from Lumbini gate you will be at the World Peace Pagoda.
