Thorong la pass is the highest pass in the world. It is the highest mountain pass that you may reach during the Annapurna Circuit trek The trek begins from the sub-tropical atmosphere, places called Bahun danda. The first few days trek lead along the Marshyangdi River with visiting most beautiful nature of Nepal likely waterfall at Chamje, Taal and monasteries.
Thorong-la pass trekking follows historic paths used as trade routes between Nepal and Tibet. These paths have long facilitated the flow of cultures and religions in this remote and formerly inaccessible region. At present day, Tibetan Mahayana Buddhism, Hinduism, and the mysterious Bon-Po religion still coexist and interpenetrate one another in this region which contains many pilgrimage sites.
Thorong La Pass trek takes you past the world's deepest gorge – the Kali Gandaki gorge and then over the highest pass in the world – Thorang La at an elevation of 5,416 m. The trek goes through the remote and beautiful valley of Manang village and then to the spiritual place of Muktinath.
The best time to visit is in October when the monsoon season ends. The heavy rains have cleared the air, making views of the Himalayas especially dazzling.
