Langtang Valley Trek

The Langtang valley trek is a great substitution for trekkers who do not have time to trek the long and strenuous Annapurna Circuit trek. Situated in the Langtang National Park this trek offers you an opportunity to encounter many animal and bird species, the Red Panda being amongst the most popular one. The trail takes you past high elevation meadows where you can enjoy the sightings of wild sheep and yaks grazing in the afternoon sun.

The Langtang Valley trek begins with the drive along the Trishuli River, heading north from Kathmandu through Trishuli Bazaar. Crossing Dhunche, we will reach Syabrubensi; a Sherpa village. This route was once the trading route with Tibet. As we walk pass many forests, we may have a chance of spotting a local wildlife like the musk deers, Danphe etc. Arriving at Langtang village, the Tamang people show their hospitality with such a hearty welcome.

The trek is short yet amazing one rewarding us with amazing sceneries, valleys and glaciers. The trek is surrounded by panoramic views of Mt. Langtang and also features spectacular views of Dorje Lakpa and Shisapangma the tallest peak in Tibet. You will undoubtedly enjoy the trek that goes through bamboo, bamboo, rhododendron, pine and juniper to reach mountain meadows surrounded by snowy peaks, the region borders with Tibet to the north and provides insight into the Buddhist culture.

Best time to visit

The best season for Trekking to Langtang Region is October/November and March/May are obviously the most popular. At these times the weather is mild and generally dry, making the walking conditions good.
