Kopan Monastery

The Kopan Monastery is situated near Boudhanath. It is a Tibetan Buddhist Monastery. The monastery was established by Foundation of the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition (FPMT) in 1969. It was established by Lama Yeshe and Lama Zopa Rinpoche as a home for monks and nuns. The name of the monastery was kept after the name of the hill it was built on. Kopan Monastery is a place for Buddhist study, retreat, meditation, and practice. The monastery provided integrated education through which people’s minds and hearts can be transformed to their highest potential for the benefit of others, inspired by an attitude of universal responsibility.

How to get there?

You can go there by bus which goes to Boudhanath from Kathmandu. Another option is to hire a taxi and tell the driver to take you to Kopan Monastery.
